Plateau is a collaboration between two of Taupo’s most seasoned hospitality operators: Louis de Bievre and Chris Johnston, who are responsible for such icons as Holy Cow!, Mulligan's Public House and Replete. Plateau provides an excellent and authentic New Zealand experience.
At Plateau you will discover a taste of real New Zealand. There are seven New Zealand Craft Beers on tap, produced by the Monteith’s Brewing Co., which is located on the west coast of the South Island. The music is all New Zealand artists coined Godzone’s Classic Tunes, and the décor embraces materials from New Zealand and the Central Plateau; including copper fittings, leather, dark wood and pumice. Plateau has a stylish raised restaurant, strategically placed granite bar, a more casual meet and greet area, a courtyard for outside dining and drinks, and a private dining room for group bookings. It is a contemporary, yet timeless space — as stylishly welcoming as it is supremely functional.
What’s great about Plateau is that you can drop in for a quiet drink with friends or enjoy superb Kiwi-inspired Food. Chef Wayne Martin designs and maintains a menu inspired by New Zealand’s ample range of culinary options. Each dish is prepared to exacting standards with an eye to consistency, taste, and presentation.
In the restaurant and bar, Maitre’ D Neb and Bar Manager Emma work to create an atmosphere which is comfortable and relaxing for the customer. They are a close knit team and always wish to provide professional service that is attentive, yet unintrusive. Product knowledge is of great importance and everyone at Plateau is encouraged to enjoy their duties and take pride in serving.
